Quebec City, November 27, 2012 - Last month, Maheu&Maheu celebrated the Grand Opening of its New Corporate Headquarters with clients, suppliers, and people involved in the project. This 4 million dollars investment is targeting a LEED certification and displays a wise combination of wood and metal products. Comfort and well-being of occupants is the ultimate goal in sustainable building design and it shows all the way around walking in this ultra-modern facility.
The self-supporting timber curtain wall of the storefront is a new technology implemented for the first time in the Province of Quebec. IC2 Technologies who did the design and installation won a prize for that innovation (http://contech.qc.ca/trophees-laureats-2012). This German technology, Passivhaus certified, uses a thermal barrier without metal where the glass is coupled to wood for an increased insulation. Besides the vegetal roof, the building has many other features to optimize energy efficiency.
’’It was natural for a pest management leader like Maheu&Maheu to build a facility in line with our values and sustainable development policy’’ said CFO Louis-Philippe Maheu who was involved as project manager.
More than 20 employees are based at the New Headquarters also housing the central warehouse and the Québec / Chaudière-Appalaches Branch Office. Founded in 1933, Maheu&Maheu is the 3rd largest pest management company in Canada and is ranked 40th in North America with annual revenues in the range of 15 million dollars.
